25 January:
The morning will focus on general topics on biocatalysis (characterization and immobilization, reaction optimization, enzyme engineering) followed by more specific talks on translating biocatalytic reactions to industrial scale, some success stories from industry and academia. In the afternoon we will have three case studies from BIOCON-CO2 (presented by BIOCON-CO2 partners).
26 January:
Electrofermentation is an upcoming technology that results from merging fermentative and electrochemical processes, resulting in an innovative biotechnological conversion paradigm. Electrochemical cells can impact on fermentation processes by influencing the redox conditions in the culture media. Electrofermentation allows optimal substrate utilization, less use of redox control additives, pH control as well as streer microbial growth and production rate. This emerging research field has a lot of potential applications. The aim of the BIOCON-CO2 workshop is to present some of the most relevant research activities around the electrofermentation concept
